Where was it again? - Handling files

Handling files

Get to the heart of your mobile

Es Explorer (German View)

What you normally do

You all know about this. There's this stuff on your computer and it's easy to search. But it lasts for so long. Right?

But then suddenly one time you wanna make it easier. But on your computer there is so many things you can do. You could for example use everything, which will make it much easier to find files at light speed.

But now you have no computer at the moment. But your phone. And you search for the same solution. Finding files at close to light speed time. You start the built in explorer and it doesn't give you really a good feeling.

What I stumbled across: ES Explorer

Yes, well now you can use this ES Explorer App. I will describe a little about it here in this blog.
You might as well watch the video below I found in Youtube.

I am not promoting this or getting promoted by ES Explorer, I just share here things.
Maybe this changes somewhen in the future. My intent is to provide you with the best advice I figured out for myself to make your computer less and less needed.

What I like is you can do the following things:

  • You can get access to your files on your computer.
  • You can get access to your files on your phone
  • You can get access to your files on your phone via your computer
  • You don't need any further software
I just mention these because it's possible as well.
Here I will only focus on the things you can do just on your phone with no computer available at all.
This is the topic of the blog as well.

Like this or similar it will present itself:
Where it all starts
Overview home page screen

You can click on 0 which is the internal memory.
Or in this case on my phone it's called 67AC-0363 which is my internal memory card.
You see there's a lot saved on this card because I really use my phone as a workin device as well.

Below is a red marked number showing "Total Used Space: 85%"
Which clearly indicates how much is left until your phone is full and even not a single bit is left.

Why did I choose this tool? Easy. Because you can really have the explorer like style and you can do this:

Analyzing your phone's memories

Use the analyze button of the pic before to get a glimpse of what's happened to your phone recently in terms of memory usage.
What files were created?
How much memory do they use?
How to get rid of them?
And watch or play them before you delete them or move them into another directory, compress them or whatever you might like to do about your files.

See? In my opinion this is really a replacement for an explorer. And the best about it, it's completely free.

Analyze your internal memory as well as your SD card

When the analyzing mode is finished it will show you two things:
  1. Advertisements / Commercials
  2. The result you want.
I won't complain about it though because it is a free version and in my opinion the Ads are not really disturbing the flow or the handling.

Results of scanning and analyzing

Get ready to see the results. You get an overview which is in this case about 8.62 GB
and the app associated folder holds about 107.96 MB

Results

This can help you to clean up your phone or you can do it manually. In my opinion this is a lot easier with the help of the program. My phone would be so fucked up if I didn't clean it from time to time using ES Explorer and clean master.

This view will only show voice and music files.
to manage your files. You can even switch the views and adjust everything the way you like

Same view of music files like above but smaller
And you got a good overview.
If you press the magnifier symbol above you can really find everything as quick as on your computer basically. To type in faster you might wanna use a good keyboard.

Overview - Menu on the left

If you need even more options and things to do, you're welcome to do so. There's more. No problem.
Just press the three dashes symbol on the left top corner to open up the view shown below:

This view opens up if you press the three dashes at the left top corner

Now what's this all about? We got some things that say:

  • Favorites: Which lets you bookmark basically everything, your preferred folder or anything
  • Homepage: The view  ES Explorer is about to start with anytime you open it
  • Device: Where you can navigate to your preferred memories: Internal memory and SD card storage.
  • Download: Obvious, right? If you didn't tweak anything in your phone this is the default download folder on your phone which is normally linked to your download folder using a path like: /storage/emulated/0/Download
  • 0: Points to your internal memory storage location
  • 67AC-0363: points to your SD card memory location, the text might be a different cryptic description on your phone
  • Library: See below in this article where I describe it
  • Network: All you need about accessing any file based network.
  • Tools: Wait, let me have a look, don't remember all just out of my head.

Library

The Library view is very interesting

Tools

Ok, so what we got here?

There's the download manager where you actually might see, what's recently downloaded and how far or has already been deleted again.

The ES Task Manager which is hidden behind the text System Manager.
It's an additional install which will provide you with Kill/Uninstall/Widget Features I didn't yet use myself. I use greenify to do this.

SD Card Analyst I described above.
There's even a music player and a video player built in which is the next point called Music Player.

Let's have a look at Hide List as well, which I didn't figure out yet.

And the cleaner which will help you in a similar way like clean master to get rid of files.

Tools View

This will surely not be the last version of this article. There's more to come.
But now you got a glimpse how you can do the same stuff on your phone like using Explorers on your computer.
